I'm wondering if I should be doing these exercises when my hand is hurting?
It depends what kind of problem is causing your pain. If you had a fracture, a serious trauma or something in this line, you should consult you doctor about the possible restrictions. Also if you had severe or long lasting pains maybe demanding pain killers, you should see your physisican. Videos 2,4,5, and 6 show mainly stretching and relaxing type of exercises. For a healthy person they are usually used to relive everyday muscle stress and tightness. Also they should be done without too much force or against pain. Weight or resistance training should be started slow and under guidance, if necessary. Video 3 shows ideas for more advanced training. There are also some quite demanding exercises, which should not be tried if you have pains.
